外國車牌轉換至英國車牌

移民到英國，如本身持有別國的車牌但不能在英國使用，豈不是要重新考試獲取英國車牌？！非也，英國政府其實對指定國家的車牌是認可，你將可換作成英國車牌。

哪些是指定國家？

某些指定國家/地區，因為與英國簽訂了交換協議，令移居/民人士能渡過在英定居的時間，換領英國車牌是其中之一。

首先，你必須為指定認可國家的車牌，才有機會把它換成英國車牌：

以上（大部分）的『指定國家/地區』的車牌持有人，可使用現有的有效車牌在英國駕駛（最多12個月）。你將可利用這段期間換領英國車牌，或最久可在留英5年內的時間換領，一但超過5年便失去資格。

哪些『指定國家/地區』的車牌不能在首12個月在英國駕駛？

• 南韓 – 南韓的電單車牌是不能在英國駕駛電單車 / 換領電單車牌，必須重新在英國考試領取。
• 新西蘭 – 新西蘭的自動波車牌，在英國只限於換領/駕駛自動波汽車。如要換領棍波(手動)車牌，必須持有的棍波(手動)車牌的考試證書。
• 南非 – 舊款活頁式的南非車牌在英國是無效的，必須為卡片款式的才被承認。

還需要什麼資格？

除了要合乎指定國家的要求，駕駛者還需要合乎以下條件：

• 其指定國家的車牌必須是有效的（還未逾期）
• 必須為英國居民 – 任何合法在英國居留之人士（簽證/永久居留權/已入英國藉）
• 提供永久地址 – 必須能提供英國居住至少185天的永久地址
• 北愛爾蘭車牌 – 1976年1月1日之後簽發的北愛爾蘭車牌，可隨時免費更換成英國車牌
• Jersey/ Guernsey/ the Isle of Man車牌 – 只要是在1991年4月1日或之後發出的，將允許換成英國車牌

如何換領？

現時政府還未開通網上申請，因此需要到 附近郵局 或 可到 DVLA網頁領取『D1表格』。填好表格，以郵寄方式送交DVLA進行換領手續。

費用：£43 ，可以以本地銀行支票 或 到郵局購買postal cheque支付（郵局會對postal cheque收取12.5% 費用）
