英國首相自疫情開始，已決定要改變市民，令我們變得更健康。過往有對飲品徵『糖』稅，又對電視廣告作出限制。今日政府又有新的建議，計劃打算加徵收新稅項 -『snack tax 零食稅』。假如成功在議會上通過，英國將會是全球首個徵收此項稅的國家。
既然叫『零食稅』，當然會對所有零食不論咸、甜來徵稅。計劃書內建議對加工食品製造商、餐廳 和 餐飲行業的徵收此稅款，再轉嫁到消費者身上。計算方式是以糖和鹽份量來徵收：糖每公斤徵收£3，鹽每公斤徵收£6。
估計新稅項開始後，將會為政府帶來£34億，以英國人口（5千6百萬人）來計算，每人每年將要多花£60在零食上。以一個4人家庭來說，即便增加了£240的額外金錢花費在零食上。看似政府很貪婪，其實徵收獲得的稅款，將會花費在推廣健康飲食，計劃書提及建議由NHS提供開班授課，教導市民健康烹調和營養飲食，來預防肥胖和健康不良等問題。
這稅收會不會令英國人瘦點，我不確定，但肯定至少會令各位錢包更瘦！
