隨著2025年來臨，英國的住房危機並沒有緩解跡象，反而因通膨高企、能源危機以及政策不確定性持續升溫。此波風暴下，最受打擊的莫過於上百萬名租屋族——房租與水電雜費彷彿脫韁野馬般不斷攀升，讓多數年輕人與弱勢家庭喘不過氣。
英國房租年年創新高
根據最新數據，2025年全英平均房租漲幅已突破7%，倫敦等大城市更出現雙位數增長。不僅如此，房東因房屋貸款利率上升而轉嫁壓力，租戶面臨「租金一漲再漲、搬家難上加難」的惡性循環。
生活消費負擔愈來愈重
除了房租，能源費用也是壓垮租戶的最後一根稻草。燃氣與電費受地緣政治和通膨影響，許多民眾冬天只能限時供暖、節省用水。根據公民諮詢局報告，2024-2025年間英國超過三分之一租戶表示，僅靠支付房租與帳單已經入不敷出，甚至有家庭被迫選擇「三餐與電費只能擇一」的困難局面。
脆弱群體首當其衝
單親家庭、殘障人士、低收入租戶首當其衝。許多租屋族為節省開支，不惜住進品質低劣、潮濕甚至有安全疑慮的房舍。不少社會救助機構及慈善團體反映，尋求緊急住房協助的案例再度創歷史新高。
租屋市場「冷漠化」？
在巨大壓力下，部分房東寧願空置房屋以等高價，也不願長期出租，租客更難找到合適房源。中介管理費用、押金、租約短期化等種種繁瑣條件，無形中加重了新移民與年輕家庭的負擔。
政府與社會的抉擇
即使政府陸續推出租金上限、補助政策，效果往往有限。民間呼籲加快社會住宅興建，並加強對租屋族的法律保護，防止無故驅逐與不公平漲價。
