自從2016年起，英國推出首款全新的鈔票£5後，英國現時通行的鈔票£5、£10、£20、£50 經過了5年時間，終於全部換上新鈔票。而現時仍在市面流通的£20和£50的舊鈔票，亦要正式完成使命。
Bank of England 宣佈設下流通的期限，舊鈔票在2022年9月30日後，將會被全面停止使用。
£5 和£10 的舊鈔票，在過去的換新鈔的時候，被收回和已經停用。現時只剩下£20 和 £50的舊鈔票仍然在市面上流通。所以各位如有£20或£50的舊鈔票，必須在限期之前用掉它 或 傳入銀行，因為商店是有權在這限期之後，拒絕接受舊鈔票。
舊鈔 vs 新鈔
舊鈔票是使用紙的質料之成，而新的鈔票是使用聚合物造成，質感有如塑膠般。
