英國首相有意促使市民在未來十年改用heat pumps電熱泵或hydrogen boilers氫氣熱水爐，以達成減低排放量的目標。

但供暖和熱水工業委員會 (HHIC)給政府警告，為配合全新的熱水爐系統，市民必先更換尺寸合格的輸出管。現時大部分使用15毫米以下的管，要配合新款熱水爐需要至少22毫米，可是暖氣管都收藏在地板下面，屋主必須拆去地板才可更換新管，估計市民需面臨£2500的更換費用。

Microbore pipe微孔管

英國70年代的房屋，它們暖氣輸出管的大部分使用『Microbore pipe微孔管』一般為8毫米 或 10毫米，而近年新建房屋會使用最多15毫米。『Microbore pipe微孔管』在建築業非常廣泛地被使用，因為它成本低，而且尺寸較小容易安裝。

更換暖氣輸出管

暖氣管和接口都隱藏在層與層之間的空間，非常隱蔽，所以必須拆開地板(或地毯) 和隔板才會看到。由於房屋面積大，只能根據從熱水爐的管來猜測接口在哪裏，亦因此變得很昂貴。

未知將來政府會否就此撥款資助業主們完成更換工作？
