英國每逢進入雨季雨量驚人，全球暖化海邊或湖邊水位上升，加上排水系統老化，令近年英國水災連連。所以各位在選擇定居地點和購買房屋時，必須考慮到當地的水浸情況，以免日後因水浸而要經常維修。
英國近年的水浸情況 – 聖誕節水浸
在2020年12月25日聖誕節，牛津郡的Witney 和 Fewcott因大雨而成水災，40多戶家中和路面水浸，令他們未能享受聖誕節的歡欣。
2019年11月，Sheffield 多處嚴重水浸。從圖片可見，水位高漲能淹未整條行人路。
2019年6月份，蘇格蘭愛丁堡多條道路，甚至火車路軌都被水淹沒。
Cumbria 市政府在Keswick 的湖邊築起玻璃平幕，阻擋因大雨形成的湖水上升。
哪個地區水災情況最嚴重？
根據2018年的調查報告顯示，因海面水位上升，而最受影響的5個地區：
- 東岸地區，特別是 Norfolk、Peterborough,、Hull 和 Great Yarmouth
- Kent 和 Sussex 的沿岸地區、 包括 Birling Gap
- Cornwall
- Hampshire 地區，例如：Barton-on-Sea
- Isle of Wight
而英國河畔範圍的地區，河水沉積物令河水與低窪地帶並排，加上水位上升，以下這些地區經常受水災影響：
- Lincolnshire： Woodhall Spa、Boston、Skegness、Scunthorpe、Sandtoft
- Lancashire
- Yorkshire：Knottingley 和 Hull
- Cumbria
- Somerset：Glastonbury
- Kent：New Romney、Gillingham 和 Rochester
- Essex：Burnham-on-Crouch
