英國第二大房屋借貸銀行Nationwide表示，假設借貸人是首次置業，而首期款項的大部分來自父母的饋贈，銀行會拒絕批出貸款。
先前在6月份時，Nationwide更改貸款規定，要求貸款人能支付最少15%首期，以防在房價暴跌時，令供款者變成負資產。
剛剛再加推新規例來加強貸款審批，新規例要求首次置業者的首期，必須有75%為申請人的儲蓄。有調查顯示，過往有超過40%首次置業人士需要父母的幫助才有能力買樓。其次調查估計，今年的病毒瘟疫會令父母幫助子女置業的能力下降。
