Hay fever 花粉症的病徵
首先先看看自己是否已感染到花粉症，花粉症的症狀有：
- 打噴嚏和咳嗽
- 流鼻涕或鼻塞
- 眼睛痕癢、紅腫或不停流淚
- 喉嚨、嘴巴、鼻子和耳朵痕癢
- 失去嗅覺
- 太陽穴和前額疼痛
- 頭痛
- 耳痛
- 感覺疲倦
假如你本身有哮喘病，病徵是：
- 胸口感到緊繃
- 氣短
- 喘息和咳嗽
舒緩花粉症
感染到花粉症後，病徵的出現可以長達1星期至1個月，大部分人在1-2星期後，會自行復原。所以英國人大都只會服用西藥 Antihistamines 來舒緩花粉症的不適，等待病症自行痊癒。
一些 Antihistamines 會令人進入睡意，如在平日服用將會是非常危險，尤其是駕車人士，即使沒有睡意亦會令人反應變得遲鈍，所以要留意購買無睡意的Antihistamines。
由NHS推介有以下幾款，這些都是無睡意的Antihistamines：
- Acrivastine (Benadryl)
- Cetirizine
- Fexofenadine
- Loratadine (Clarityn)
**購買藥物前，務必先徵詢藥房當值的藥劑師。
天然預防和舒緩花粉症的方法
俗語說『是藥三分毒』，也許你不想吃西藥來舒緩花粉症。不怕，還有其他更天然的方法來幫助舒緩花粉症，這些方法還可以預防感染上花粉症：
- 使用凡士林（Vaseline）
- 在鼻孔周圍擦上凡士林
- 有效阻止花粉進入鼻孔內
- 戴上太陽眼鏡
- 在戶外時戴上太陽眼鏡
- 有效阻止花粉由眼睛進入
- 洗澡/換衣服
- 出外後，立即換掉身上的衣服
- 出外後洗澡
- 去除從戶外帶入屋的花粉
- 留在室內
- 減少出外能避免遇上花粉
- 關窗/門
- 將屋內的門窗關好
- 能避免花粉吹入屋內
- 吸塵
- 家中要經常吸塵
- 有效去除已在屋內的花粉
- 花粉過濾器
- 在汽車出風口安裝和使用花粉過濾器（可以到Halford了解車款所需）
- 購買有防花粉的吸塵機（已安裝HEPA filter）
避免以下的事情
此外，已染上花粉症的人，須注意避免以下事項：
- 避免草地
- 避免剪草 或 在草地上行走
- 草地大多已佈滿花粉
- 剪草/在草地上行走只會觸發花粉飄起
- 避免鮮花
- 避免家中擺放鮮花
- 只會令你難以痊癒
- 不要抽煙/遠離抽煙地方
- 只會令你的病徵更嚴重
- 不要戶外掠衣服
- 衣服會沾上花粉
