英國早在2015年開始推行幼兒免費午餐，為幼兒免費提供溫暖的午飯。只要你的小孩就讀英國公立直資學校的『Reception class預備班』, 『Year 1一年級』或『Year 2二年級』，便可以免費享用學校提供的午餐。
如果你的孩子已經在『Reception class預備班』, 『Year 1一年級』或『Year 2二年級』，基本上你什麼都不用做，也不用再為你的小孩準備午餐盒。午飯時，直接到學校飯堂就能享用免費學校午餐。（每間學校可能做法不一，詳情請詢問貴學校。）
英國政府還會為以下條件人仕的小孩提供免費午餐：
- 收入支助（Income Support）
- 基礎收入津貼（Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance）
- 收入有關的就業和支助津貼 (Income-related Employment and Support Allowance)
- 根據1999年第六部分的“移民和庇護法”的被支助者 (support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999)
- 退休金信貸的保證要素 (the guaranteed element of Pension Credit)
- 兒童免稅額 Child Tax Credit（前提你沒有領取『收入支助』，而年收入不超過£16,190）
- 持續領取工作免稅額者 (Working Tax Credit) – 如果因不合資格而停止領取，政府只支付停止後的4週
- 普遍信用額 Universal Credit- 如果在2018年4月1日或之後申請，每個家庭收入低於每年7,400英鎊（稅後），任何福利支助並不包括。
如果你付合以上條件者，你可以到學校辦事處拿School Free Meal表格申請。
