過去一年，倫敦鐵路的業務拓展得越來越大，先有新路線Elizabeth Line，再宣佈發展無人駕駛的列車，今年才剛開始又有新計劃！
Thames Gateway Tram Ltd 宣佈計劃打造全新的電車路線，有意把Essex和Kent與倫敦東區連接起來。有一河之隔的 Essex 和 Kent連接起來，將可同時連接多個地點：Purfleet、Grays、Ebbsfleet、Northfleet 和 Gravesend，未來更有意擴展至Basildon 和 Canvey Island。計劃表示，電車的班次將會是每3-4分鐘，大部份在地面行駛，只有穿過Thames河道的地下隧道時才需要向地下道走。估計列車每年可為過千萬乘客帶來方便。
該計劃從2017年便開始流傳，但只聞樓梯響，這次相信很大機會成事，但專家指出這計劃龐大，即使成事並立即開工，也要等到2023年才可完成。
