英國將有超過250,000 人在未來一年的食用水內沒有氟化物。😲
Anglian Water 水廠通知Lincolnshire公共衛生部總監，將會在2024年初至2025年期間進行大型基礎設施工程，會暫停添加氟化物一年。受影響的地區包括 Lincoln、Gainsborough、Market Rasen的部份地區，還有西部至中部的農村地方。英國NHS一直鼓勵市民多直接飲用食用水，有助提升牙齒健康。Lincolnshire市政府為減低今次受影響市民的健康，正尋找方法解決。
氟化物是一種天然的礦物質，用作口腔護理，能增强牙齒健康，防止蛀牙。因此，氟化物被視為一種有益物質。英國的部份地區本身水質的氟化物含量非常低，所以必須添加氟化物到供水系統中，以提高目前的含量。
地方民主報告處會向市議會衛生委員會提交的一份報告，警告暫停期間會對地區內的居民的口腔健康產生負面影響。還稱，部分沒有氟化物的地區，5 歲的兒童出現蛀牙的人數是添加了氟化物的地區的兩倍。
氟化物 Fluoride
市政府還沒有什麼解決方法，但居民本身除了在食用水中，還可以從以下方法中獲得氟化物：
- 牙膏
- 使用含有氟化物的牙膏
- 含 1,350 至 1,500 ppm 氟化物的牙膏是最有效的
- 有蛀牙風險的人士，或許建議使用強度更高的牙膏
- 含氟漱口水
- 適合已患有蛀牙的人士
- 適用於8歲以上的人士
- 使用含氟漱口水之餘，還需要每天至少刷牙兩次
- 刷牙和漱口水不應同一時段使用
- Fluoride varnish 氟漆
- 適用於年紀較少的兒童
- 直接在牙齒上塗上氟漆
- 大人小孩每半年使用1次，能增強琺瑯質，令牙齒更堅硬
- 只須帶小孩定期檢查牙齒，牙醫便會使用，無須自行購買
