一直以來往返倫敦 (London)、紐卡素 (Newcastle) 和愛丁堡 (Edinburgh)之間的火車，都是獨市經營，但很快這局面將要改變。鐵路公司First Group競投贏得專線行使權，投資1億英鎊在新火車『Lumo』加入競爭，並宣佈將在10月25日起通車。
往返倫敦和愛丁堡的專線
Lumo的行走路線由London 至 Edinburgh，中途只停3個車站： Stevenage（Luton機場附近）、Newcastle 和 Northumberland 的小鎮 Morpeth。他們沒有像現時般在 York、Leeds、Peterborough等城市停站，所以只須4個半小時便可從倫敦到達愛丁堡。
經常往返London 和 Edinburgh的乘客是他們主要目標對象，其次吸納目標是乘搭飛機的乘客，現時英航和EasyJet共有20多個航班前往倫敦，每張票價由£47起，Lumo絕對能在票價上取勝。
首階段，每天兩班次列車，往後將有更多新列車投入服務，便會增加至每天五班次。
每程低至£15， 可同時使用Railcards
Lumo的定價非常之低，由London 乘搭至 Edinburgh 單程價格最低只須£15。鐵路公司亦承諾，有60%的票價會定價在£30或以下，即使在前一天訂票，票價亦不會高於£19.90。相對起現時的定價，London 前往 Edinburgh不少於£50， Lumo的票價真的是非常吸引。

5-15歲 – 成人票的半價
可使用railcard：
Lumo的價格已經非常便宜，如果同時使用Railcards，每程價格可低至£9.80（Veterans Railcards除外）
**注意：每位乘客限制攜帶大型行李一件和隨身行李一件（手袋/背包等）；單車可免費攜帶上車，但必須在訂票時說明。
