近日，有傳媒爆出位於 Cheshire 的 Crewe 內的新建住宅樓盤，因沒有在合資格的規劃許可（planning permission）情況下建造而成，將可能面臨被拆除。
污染的土地
今次事件涉及263間房屋，由建造商Coppenhall Place建造的，他們的業主表示他們的房屋建在可能被污染的土地上，令他們無法出售房屋或向銀行重新申請按揭，這反映了當時發展商根本沒有獲取合資格的規劃許可，便在前身為Bombardier train factory（火車工廠）的工地上建造住宅用途的房屋。
火車工廠的工地
由於前身是火車工廠的用地，所以房屋的土地上極有可能殘留著石棉、鉛、氰化物和砷等重金屬物質。Cheshire East Council一邊箱指這些物質不會危害人類健康，安撫居民，但另一邊箱又試圖利用今次糾紛，要求發展商Countryside Partnerships 為該地區加設相對的配套設施，業主們感覺自己成為Council的棋子。
業主們最害怕的是，這些房屋在沒有規劃許可下建造（Council已確認發展商沒有獲發許可證明），令房間價值沒有價值，不但影響銀行對房屋的按揭貸款，更無法出售物業。
瘟疫造成失誤？
Countryside Partnerships 原定於 2018 年 12 月獲得規劃許可，在 17 英畝的土地上建造 239 套三房和四房房屋加上 24 套單位公寓。但 Covid 和其他延誤令工程，未能趕上進度在3年期限內完成。
發展商雖然再次申請規劃許可，但當時大部分的房屋已出售，只剩下部分3房的房屋（售價£229,995）。這意味著大部分的房屋是在沒有規劃許可的情況下建造和出售，及後，Council質疑發展商在施工前和施工期間沒有進行原先同意的污染水平檢查，令規劃許可未能順利通過。
直至現時，發展商仍在沒有規劃許可的情況下鋪建行車道路（大概在報導的一星期前），Council指責發展商把利益放在規矩前，所以需要進行進一步調查才可能批出新的規劃許可。
英國銀行再次加息
目前，大部分業主在2021年買入房屋，並向銀行簽訂兩年的按揭貸款合約，本應今年重新簽約由原先每月£700的供款升為每月£1000，但因為沒有規劃許可，令新按揭合約遲遲無法批出。業主們擔心，照目前情況，假若沒有綁定固定利率合約（銀行剛再次加息），供款將可能高達每月£1400。
