英國政府表示從2024年1月1號起，月經內褲將不再列入繳納增值稅 (VAT)範圍 。此舉將直接影響所有月經內褲價格下滑。 英國財政部表示，這被視為衛生棉條和衛生棉的綠色替代品的月經內褲，由於功能上非一般，所以市場上的價格稍高，當取消稅收後能降價至少£2，有助於更貼近其他衛生棉產品的價格。
自從2021年起，英國市面的衛生棉條和護墊等其他月經產品已獲得被豁免增值稅。在過去十年中，月經內褲雖然變得越來越流行，但是因為被歸類為日常服飾而不是月經產品，因此仍需要繳稅。
但2023年經零售商 Marks & Spencer 和月經褲品牌 Wuka 聯手發起的「向褲子徵稅」活動之後，財政部長在秋季宣布將取消月經內衣的稅收。然而，有一些零售商在加此活動時已經降低了月經內褲的價格，並表示增值稅成本將由他們自己承擔，所以這次稅收變化不會再次影響價格。
