在今年的2月3日，Ebay上出現一個奇怪的成交，1個英鎊的2p硬幣被拍賣叫價的次數共33次，而最後以£301賣出。為什麼會這樣？
極稀有的2p硬幣
這個極稀有的2p就是1983年印有『New Pence』字樣的硬幣，為什麼這麼值錢？
要知道為什麼，那就要從英國貨幣的歷史說起：在1971至1981的英國，所有的2p都是刻印『New Pence』字樣。由1982年開始，Royal Mint皇家鑄幣廠宣布，所有2p 上的『New Pence』改為『Two Pence』。但意外地，Royal Mint在1983年鑄造的2p上錯印了『Two Pence』為『New Pence』。就這樣所有83年的出產的2p硬幣變了錯體，因此而升值。
相信當年也有鑄造『Two Pence』83年版的2p，當中的錯體2p只有少量在市面流通，才這麼值錢。因此大家要留意，必須是1983年印有『New Pence』字樣才值錢。
