英國有過百萬人是屬於自雇人士，在疫情影響下沒辦法做生意，令生意和生活變得困難。因此政府推出『Self-employed support grant』自雇人士補助金去幫助他們渡過難關。
統計數字顯示，全英國可能有3百萬人合資格領取資助，每人最高金額達£6570。第一筆補助金已經在5月份時候接受申請，總金額£7.8億元，總人數達2.7百萬人。HMRC稅務局指有過千人領取的補助金過多，主要原因是申請人在填寫收入金額上有錯誤，但HMRC不會向他們追還。
如何有資格申請『Self-employed support grant』？
- 在2018-19年度的營業額的利潤低於£50,000的自雇人士 或
- 在2016-17、2017-18和2018-19年度的平均營業利潤低於£50,000的自雇人士。
第一期補助金的可獲取平均利潤的8成（每個月可獲最高£2500），政府會一筆過支付3個月補助金，總金額高達£7500。
第一期補助金已在7月13日截止了，而在今個星期一 8月17日開始接受第二期的申請。第二期的金額將會微調，由原本的8成下降為7成。同樣政府會一筆過支付3個月的補助金，總金額高達£6570（每個月可獲最高£2190） 。
申請人需要在7月14日或之後，確認其業務受病毒疫情影響。即使之前申請人沒有獲取第一期補助金，仍可申請第二期。
