除了之前提過的15和30小時免費學前班 (瀏覽該文章：http://www.biglittlebritain.com/freeeducation/）外，政府同時推行Playgroup或課外活動的托兒資助計劃。
此資助計劃的性質是希望小童得到額外照顧，從而鼓勵父母出外就業。你將會獲得政府在免費教育以外的項目費用中的20%資助，這些項目包括：
- 保姆/幼稚園
- 課後活動
- 家庭護理機構
- 親戚提供的托兒服務
而每年每小孩，最多可獲得£2000資助，即假設：一小時£10的保姆費，你只需付£8 政府付£2 。

After school clubs and play schemes 課後活動
由校內或政府認可機構進行的課後活動（After school clubs 或 breakfast clubs）或其他課餘活動。
- After school clubs – 放學後3時半至6時
- Breakfast clubs – 早上7時至上課前8時半
- 課餘活動 – 校內舉辦的足球課、舞蹈課等
home care agencies 家庭護理機構
由政府認可的家庭護理機構提供的照顧兒童服務。
親戚提供的托兒服務
即使由親戚（祖父母）幫忙照顧也可以向政府索取支付托兒費用的資助：
如在英格蘭或蘇格蘭，必須為：
- 親戚是已註冊的Childminders
- 在孩子家以外地點的托兒服務
- 使用Universal Credit，tax credits 或 childcare vouchers向他們付款，便合資格
申請人資格
申請的資格取決於以下幾點：
- 你是否在工作 – 你和你伴侶都必須在職
- 年收入的多少 – 至少有16小時最低工資的收入
- 兒童的年齡和情況 – 年齡在11歲以下的兒童，或17歲以下的傷殘兒童
- 國籍 – 必須為英國國藉或歐盟國藉（脫歐後歐盟國藉可能會被刪除)
而你伴侶的工作和收入將影響你的資格，而伴侶的定義為：
- 已註冊結婚或合法伴侶，並一起生活
- 沒有結婚的伴侶關係，但生活在一起
除非你的伴侶已經離開超過6個月或 是囚犯。
