TV Licence fee 電視線費用是用作經營公營廣播機構『BBC』，現時BBC期下擁有電視台、電台、網站、BBC iPlayer 和手機App，想使用以上的產品，就必須繳交TV Licence fee。不過BBC製作的節目每下愈況，除了新聞報導之外，其他節目未能跟上時代的腳步。加上網上和私人平台的影片、劇集和節目越來越多，令很多英國人放棄傳統電視（情況就很像香港TVB），棄交TV Licence fee。
想仿效歐洲，加入稅收當中
今年剛好是100週年的BBC廣播機構，TV Licence fee 收入減少，他們經營越見困難，英國政府不斷想出對策解決資金收集的問題。近日，The Lords Communications and Digital Committee 在發佈BBC的資金撥款的審查報告內，對於BBC未來的資金作出一些建議，他們認為在徵收費用上有必要改革，並提出仿效歐洲的做法，徵收 『universal household levy 普通家庭稅』，即使從不觀看電視的直播節目或不使用BBC的產品，也要被強制性的加入稅額中徵收。
他們強調該模式在德國和瑞士運作得很成功，不但可預測和持續機構的收入水平，更因為所有家庭都必須支付的情況下，讓每戶的平均電視費用降低。這項建議能有效簡易收費的程序，減省行政費用，因為光是2021至22年的行政費已經花掉1.36億英鎊。
現時的TV Licence fee 收費加幅正在凍結，承諾兩年內不會加價，直至2024年4月1日。假如改革方案被采用，這承諾或許就沒有了，而且所有英國居民將可能要面對A universal council tax levy，在Council tax內被加徵該項收費，以支付BBC的收費。
