最近有報章報導指出，一名男子本來見工頗順利，但在最後因為通過不了藥物測試 (陽性反應)，而失掉一個工作機會，藥物測試不合格的原因竟然是食了『三文治』！
這位不幸的求職者，沒有服食軟性藥物的習慣，而身體健康的他更無需定時用藥，為何在藥物測試時竟然程陽性反應？他回想，在見工前一日的晚餐和當天的早餐，吃了他最喜愛的Tesco Multi Seed 麵包製成的三文治。難道是因為一件三文治而令到藥物測試失敗？
當他的妹妹得知後在網上查詢，原來Multi Seed麵包內的Poppy Seed會令藥物測試不合格。網友解釋Poppy Seed本身是不含藥性，但Poppy Seed在收割時被沾染 或 吸收了鴉片成份，因而令食了含Poppy Seed麵包的人在藥物測試時產生陽性反應。

Poppy Seed是來自罌粟植物，罌粟一直以來被廣泛地使用來製造強效止痛藥/鎮靜劑，當中產生的種子和乳汁，是製作例如：嗎啡、可待因、奧施康丁和海洛因等受管制藥物的基本成份。
食用過量的Poppy Seed，是不會令人上癮或產生興奮，卻令少數人的血液中的嗎啡含量提高，而藥物測試是無法區分究竟由嗎啡還是Poppy Seed引起。
英國見工都須要藥物測試嗎？
英國在見工時，被要求藥物測試並不常見的，但對於需要高度注意力和良好精神狀態的行業，可能會在入職前被要求藥物測試。這些行業包括：交通工具的駕駛員（火車、飛機等）、投資顧問等。在英國法律的保障下，雇員是有權拒絕藥物測試（但當然雇主亦有權不聘用各下）。
