英國脫歐後，歐盟國家的公民將會在2021年1月後，跟非歐盟國家同等待遇，必須根據最新的計分方式進行技術移民。新方案將從勞動技能、資質、薪金水平、語言能力、工作機會等方面計分,如獲得足夠分數，申請者才能獲得移民資格。包括科學家、工程師和學者在內的高技能人士,將是吸納目標。聽起來好像很好，但同時把低技術和英語能力較差的工人拒之門外。

技術移民是如何計分？

根據以下計分表的特點，獲得70分以上者才能獲得移民資格，頭3個特點是必須具有的：

以一個大學研究員來說 : 政府認可大學(20)+具有專業技能水平(20)+懂英語(10)+工資在£22k(0)+與工作相關的博士學位(20)=70分

英國內政部預計,新方案實施後, 目前70%在英國的歐盟勞工,將不符合申請移民的條件。方案又提到，英國停留時間不超過6個月的歐盟居民，仍可享受免簽待遇，但不能在英國工作。
