英國一家建築協會公司 （Skipton Building Society）推出了一項專門為長期租房的人提供0首付按揭幫助置業。雖然英國現在市面上還有一些其他0首付按揭產品可供選擇，但全部都需要家人或朋友做擔保，要有一定經濟擔保。

Skipton Building Society 表示，這次按揭申請人必須要有良好信貸紀錄並且需要證明至少12個月準時支付租金的紀錄，則不需要提供擔保人。

但是這項貸款必須承受比市面高的利息 – 5.49% （市面大概只有5%）。根據金融數據公司 Moneyfacts 的分析，目前市場上還有 15 種其他0首付按揭產品，佔英國市場不到 0.3%。但英國現時最主要的問題是廉價房屋的短缺，大大縮小首次置業者的選擇範圍，並且要負擔沈重的還貸壓力。

英國的首次置業者正面臨越來越艱苦的鬥爭，快速上漲的租金讓存錢變得越來越困難，與此同時，政府亦停止了之前的援助計畫。 該計劃可向首次置業的市民提供5%到20%的貸款，如果購買在倫敦範圍內更加可以申請高達40%的貸款，此項計劃於2022 年 10 月停止，但最近有傳言稱英國政府有可能會重新引入類似的計劃。
