今日英國政府宣佈賦予監管機構（watchdog）更大的權力，來打擊網上的虛假評論，讓消費者可以獲得更公平的消費選擇。新規定清楚地說明，尋找或支付網民對商品和服務撰寫虛假評論，即屬違法。監管機構可以向這些違法的企業罰款，最高的罰款額是全球營業額的10%。
消費者受評論影響
根據政府統計，英國的消費者因為受到網上的評論影響，而導致每個家庭平均花費 £900（每年），並在非必要的『訂閱 Subscription』上平均花費 £60 。新的法例將禁止提供委託和撰寫虛假評論，而網站管理人亦有責任，檢查評論的真實性，杜絕虛假評論。
監管網上訂閱Subscription
現時有很多不良的營商手法在網上橫行，他們以Free trial（免費試用） 或 極低價格來吸引消費者訂閱產品或服務，騙取消費者簽署極難留意的聲明條款（T&C）。當免費試用完結後，便轉至正式訂閱，並直接在消費者的銀行卡扣除訂閱費用。
因此下一步，政府將計劃擴大範圍，立例監管網上的『訂閱陷阱』。消費者在簽署『訂閱』前的條款時，企業將必須清楚說明所有內容。其次是消費者在試用完結前能獲得通知，並確保他們有直接、簡易的方法來終止合約。
