俗語說：地上撿到寶，問天問地攞唔到，英文也有一版本『finders keepers, losers weepers』，這樣說英國人也認同這番話？地上撿到錢不歸還，也是天公地道囉！
良知？道德？
近日一則新聞報導，一名6歲的小孩在英國連鎖玩具店Smyth’s Toys遺失了一筆£60的現金，這£60是他從家人中收到聖誕禮物，本來打算到店內花掉這錢，買自己喜歡的玩具，但不慎掉失了。現金掉失後，孩子很緊張的到處尋找，但卻沒法找到。於是店員翻查閉路電視，得知原來一名男子在地上撿到這筆£60的現金後，離開了店，沒有把錢交出來。
行為上是不是沒有良知或道德，我不評論，但這行為的確是犯了法！在英國法律上，任何人在任何場所撿到不屬於自己的東西和現金，即屬違法，可被視為盗竊行為，是刑事罪。當然，上述新聞的男子也不能幸免，這事件已交由警方處理，警方已將印有該男子樣貌的尋人告示到處張貼和傳播，希望把男子找出來談談。
警方的做法
雖然經常說違法、盗竊、刑事罪，但英國的警察都是喜歡大事化小，也給罪犯一個改過自新的機會，就以上的事件，只要這名男子承認並表示他不是故意的，而且願意把錢交還給物主，不一定被落案定罪。
當然，每位警員或老闆做法不一樣，有人曾經被起訴落案盗竊，也有人因工作時間撿拾不屬於自己的零錢（10p）而被解僱。所以各位還是誠實交出撿獲的東西和現金，你可以交給：
- 商店
- 交給店內職員
- 商場
- 交給客戶服務部
- 街上、行人路上
- 拿到最近的警察局
- 自動櫃員機
- 不要動也不能拿走
- 櫃員機會自動把錢收回去
- 如果在工作崗位的場所內
- 交給經理 或 客戶服務部
無人認領，可據為己有嗎？
交給警方的現金，如無人認領，拾獲者的確是有權認領和拿走該筆現金。只要28天內原物主認領，你將可以向警方要求領走。因此建議大家把拾獲的現金交給警局時，詢問一下警員，確認一下是否28日內沒有人認領便可拿走。
