英國爆發禽流感，為免雞隻受感染，政府部門限制禁止雞隻在戶外活動，因此各大超級市場已宣佈將由今日起將無法供應free range 雞蛋。
Free range eggs 改為 barn eggs
由於雞隻被禁止在戶外活動，農場將改為在穀倉內（Barn）飼養，因此平日各位選擇購買free range 雞蛋的朋友要留意，超市的雞蛋包裝和標籤將由 free range eggs 改為 barn eggs。
食用雞隻
雖然沒有free range雞蛋，但並沒有任何關於free range食用雞隻的宣佈。相信各超市仍繼續供應free range的食用雞隻。各位要不要繼續食用free range雞，就自行選擇！
什麼是Free range？
Free range chicken是走地雞，它們生活在戶外，有較大的活動空間，肉質會比較發達和多汁。英國法例上，指明農場內每6隻雞必須提供110平方英尺，才可稱為走地雞。在較自由和快樂的環境中成長的雞隻，它們所生的雞蛋會較大和好味。
英國雖然地大，但也同樣存在另一種飼養方式 -『 Cage chicken』。Cage chicken是籠裡雞，雞隻只生活在一個狹小、無法走動的空間。困在籠內不停地吃和生蛋，是極不健康的生活，所以大家有日食用雞肉時，發現一些骨骼奇異的雞肉，不用感到可怕，因為這就是籠裡雞。
由於只須狹小的空間，因此可以大量飼養，增加利潤。這就是Cage 較 Free range 便宜的原因。
家中範圍發現雀鳥屍體！
早前有關部門『Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs』已向市民發出信件，收到信件的市民表示該區正在爆發禽流感，各位必須留意！信的內容是指地區性的禽流感非常嚴重，雖然對人類的風險很低，但假如在家的範圍發現野生雀鳥的屍體，千萬不要自行處理（不要觸碰），和必須通知相關部門，熱線 03459 33 55 77

飼養家禽
假如家中有飼養任何家禽和鳥類寵物，必須為雀鳥登記註冊，這些家禽包括：
- 雞隻
- 火雞
- 鴨
- 鵝
- 鵪鶉
- 鷓鴣
- 獵鳥
- 鴿
- 任何雀鳥 (貓頭鷹、孔雀等)
相關部門會提供最新指引來保護禽鳥。
患病和死去的家禽
如家中有飼養任何家禽和鳥類寵物患病或死亡，在法律上必須通知有關部門，讓他們掌握禽流感的蔓延走勢。
